Thanks to its geographic
location, the municipality has evolved to become the administrative and
commercial capital of the region as well as the key southern access
point to the heart of Gredos.
How to get here
FROM MADRID
Via
the A5, 175
kms (just under 2 hours). Take the Carretera de Extremadura to Talavera
de la Reina. There are a number of exits for Talavera before the Arenas
exit (approx. 17,5 kms.). Take EXIT 123, signposted:

Herrera del Duque-Badajoz
After taking the exit, drive through the
first
town - El Casar de Talavera - and Arenas de San Pedro is signposted
(40kms).

Madrid - Arenas via A5
Via
the CL- 501 Alcorcón-Plasencia.
This route crosses the Tiétar Valley. It is only 150kms, but
takes a little longer - 2 hours - as it runs through towns such as
Sotillo de la Adrada, Piedralaves and Lanzahita. If you aren't in a
hurry, it's worth the extra time as it is a more picturesque route.

Take the N-110
direction Piedrahita - Plasencia; around 8kms later, take a left turn
onto the N-502
Arenas de San Pedro - Talavera de la Reina. Distance approx. 86 kms.

Arenas
FROM PLASENCIA
119 kms via the Carretera CL-501 across the la
Vera region in the Province of Cáceres. The last towns on
the route before reaching Arenas de San Pedro - and in the Province of
Ávila - are Candeleda and Poyales del Hoyo.
